Scholarship Recipients 2015
Term 4, 2015
Miki Ushio (Bass Student with Ezekiel Fenn)
“Hi everyone, my name is Miki and I have been playing bass for five years at Encompass Church. This is my fluffy friend Miffy. Since Miffy was a little boy, he has been enjoying listening to my bass and he hops and jumps around me when I practice bass. This sometimes makes me annoyed but smile at the same time. It reminds me of the joy of music!! So, when I play bass on the stage at the church, I sometimes hop and jump like Miffy does!!
“Music is a language; it is forms of expression and can be used as a way to communicate people (and Miki’s bunny). It causes us laugh and cry” Victor Wooten (Bassist)
I love learning music!! ☺
Many thanks to Bianca, Dayna and Zeke for teaching me music (language)!”
Term 3, 2015
Lahana Depaune (Singing student with Emily Bennett)
“My name is Lahana Depaune, I’m 10 years old and have 3 siblings. I attend Watsonia Height Primary School and am in grade 4. I’m in the school choir and I’m learning to play the guitar. I enjoy drawing, playing tennis and football, but most of all I absolutely love to sing. My love for singing started from a very young age. When I sing I feel happy and free. I’ve been attending BFSM for about 2 years and have learnt so much from Emily. One day I hope to share my passion and be an inspirational singer like Jessica Mauboy, Demi Lovato and Stan Walker.”
Term 2, 2015
Jaslyn Cunningham (Guitar student with Ezekiel Fenn & Singing student with Bianca Fenn)
“Hey all, My Name is Jaslyn, More commonly known as Jazz, I am studying VCE including units 3 & 4 Music Performance at Montmorency Secondary College.
Music has been a part of my life for as long at I can remember. Starting off with traditional senegalese drum and dance then as I got older I began what has now been over 10 years of rhythm tap dancing. I started singing when I was around 7 years old, jumping between teachers for a few years, having a 2 year break, then trying out a few more singing teachers until I started learning with Bianca roughly 4 years ago. I have been playing guitar since year 7 but have started lessons with Ezekiel Fenn this year. I hope to someday make a living by playing, performing or teaching music but for now, thank you BFSM for everything you have done for me.”
Term 1, 2015
Alex Tyzack (Drum Student with Dayna Hopkins & Guitar Student with Ezekiel Fenn)
“Hi, my name is Alex and I go to Viewbank College. I am very proud to have received a scholarship from Bianca Fenn School of Music for drums and guitar for term one.
I started playing music in primary school in Year 2 and I played keyboard/piano until halfway through Year 5, later that year I started learning drums and guitar at BFSM with Dayna and Zeke.
I love playing drums and guitar because I love the sounds I can make and that it’s all about imagination. I have 3 guitars, including electric, and an electronic drum kit. I like listening to rock music and pretty much anything from the ’80’s! I hope to one day play in a band and that music is always a part of my life.
Thanks Bianca, Dayna and Zeke for the opportunity! “Rock on!” “
